- Hands on support experience of data center IT equipment and processes such as networking, server racking cable management and installs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- 6-8 years of experience in a large Data center support environment
- Install and remove IT equipment as needed.
- Read and review patch sheets, label and run cables per specs and SOP's.
- Power readings and reporting.
- Tape operation
- Install and extend circuits as needed.
- Review new projects needs and help determine location, power, and network capacities.
- Set up distribute/ship equipment for remote sites.
- Applies technical knowledge to ensure that CPU's, tape units, disk storage, and other peripherals are working properly.
- Recognizes and analyzes problem conditions and determines root cause whether hardware, software, network, or media.
- Applies technical knowledge to determine remedies and/or work arounds for abnormal conditions. Must be able to determine when vendor assistance and other technical support is required.
- Identifies the need for documentation and job aids and follows through to ensure completion and dissemination.
- Learns new technologies that will be implemented in the data center and trains other associates.
- Ensures physical security for the data center and systems hardware.
- Analyzes existing methods and workflows and optimizes to increase operations and production efficiency.
- Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, and where new ones need to be developed to accommodate business expansion.
- Maintain service level agreements with the various user departments and enterprise business units.
- Performs at or above the enterprise's Information Technology performance standards.
- Require vendor onsite support and IS assistance when necessary 24 hours per day
- Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of illness, vacation, or education
- Understating of ITIL processes Incident, Change & Problem
- Understanding of monitoring tools
- Co-Ordinate with Service providers, third parties to fix the issues.
