Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Server Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.
Data Center Operations designs, installs, and maintains the world's largest computing infrastructure. Our scope of work includes systems, repairs, issue resolution, parts handling, and data center maintenance. Amazon Data Centers are large-scale, high-density centers where you will help transform technology in the region.
Key job responsibilities
As a Data Center Server Engineer, you will manage the hardware lifecycle of our IT infrastructure, including:
- Working as part of the Operations team responsible for maintenance and upkeep of data center infrastructure.
- Server rack installation/decommission, hardware troubleshooting, network issue resolution, and responding to operational issues.
- Addressing trouble tickets, troubleshooting hardware, and being the first point of contact for technical issues.
- Participating in scheduled maintenance, change management, and on-call duties.
- Engaging in team meetings for metric analysis and goal setting.
- Adhering to safety and security policies and procedures.
- Documenting technical issues through root cause analysis and contributing to process improvements.
- Assisting in training less experienced team members.
A day in the life
Your daily tasks will include supporting data center equipment, following ticket-based instructions, troubleshooting hardware, performing routine operations, and participating in site management activities. You will work on a 24/7 shift rotation.

Minimum requirements
- 1 year of data center experience and knowledge of PC/server hardware.
- Basic knowledge of Linux/Windows systems and networking.
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including 10-hour shifts.
- Experience with ticketing systems, escalation procedures, and data center facilities.
- Understanding of maintenance windows and change management.
- Proficiency in English and Japanese communication skills.
- Linux/networking certifications (RHCSA, CCNA, or equivalent) and scripting skills (Bash, Python).
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
