The Data Center Cable Design Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and managing structured cabling infrastructure to ensure efficient and reliable data center operations. This role involves creating detailed cable layouts, wiring plans, and technical documentation while adhering to industry standards and project requirements.
- Design and implement cable infrastructure for data centers, ensuring optimal network performance and scalability.
- Develop and maintain RBI (Rack, Build, and Install) plans to guide the installation and configuration of network equipment.
- Create and manage patching matrices to document and streamline network connections and configurations.
- Collaborate with network engineers and data center operations teams to ensure alignment with network architecture and operational requirements.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine cabling needs and identify potential challenges.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for data center cabling and network design.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cabling and connectivity issues as they arise.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network layouts, cabling diagrams, and patching records.
- Proficiency in CAD/Revit for cabling design; knowledge of copper (Cat6/6a) and fiber optic cabling (multimode/single-mode)
