Job Summary
Seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support 2nd shift data center operations. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, incident management, and vendor coordination in an enterprise data center environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Incident Management & Onsite Support
Monitor systems, resolve onsite issues, handle incident queues, and coordinate vendor access.
• Project Support
Validate requirements for installations, decommissions, power downs, and infrastructure changes.
• Implementation & Execution
Carry out user stories related to Layer 1 infrastructure, capacity, and inventory planning.
• Infrastructure Knowledge Application
Understand and assess impacts of infrastructure changes to on-prem data center services.
Required Qualifications
• 2+ years in IT operations or customer service
• 1-2+ years maintaining data center environments
• Basic understanding of copper/fiber cabling and IT infrastructure (LAN/WAN/SAN, servers, firewalls, wireless, etc.)
• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills
• High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate's or higher in Computer Science or related field
• Certifications in data center or networking
• 3-5+ years in complex data center design and maintenance
• Familiarity with cabling standards (EIA/TIA, IEEE, NEC, ISO)
• Experience with structured cabling, network infrastructure, and facility upgrades
Technical Skills
Layer 1: Cat 5e/6/6A, Single/Multimode fiber, DACs, connectors, transceivers
Hardware: Networking, servers, IoT, AV, rack standards, power & cooling
Software: OS installations, upgrades, API/system integration
Security: Network hardening, configuration standards
Networking: SNMP, CDP, ICMP, LAN/WAN/VLANs
Automation: Programming frameworks, automation tools
Operations: Site infrastructure, facility maintenance, fire suppression, security
Writing: Clear technical documentation, editing, and network-focused communication
