Job Title: Data Center / Cloud Engineer

Duration: 12+ months on w2 with no Benefits

Summary:

The main function of a systems engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical systems engineer analyzes user needs, and then designs, tests, and develops software to meet those needs. Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.

This Data Center / Cloud Engineer will lead a seven-person team. Overseeing the design, implementation, and management of data center and cloud infrastructure. This role drives the day-to-day execution of operations and strategic projects, ensuring stability, scalability, and security of hybrid environments

Job Responsibilities:

Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.

Lead a team of data center and cloud engineers with a focus on security, performance, and agility.

Establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., developers, network engineers, security specialists)

Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.

Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.

Participate in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.

Lead incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and resolution.

Lead and participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents promptly.

Generate system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.

Design and architect scalable and resilient data center and cloud solutions aligned with business goals.

Administer and optimize cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and O365 applications (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams).

Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CLETS, CJIS).

Lead automation efforts using tools like Saltstack, Terraform, or PowerShell

Deploy monitoring tools to enhance system performance, capacity planning, and availability.

Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for data center and cloud environments, ensuring high availability.

Ensure all data center and cloud maintenance processes are completed within specified timelines including patching and backups.

Skills:

Experienced with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles and theories.

Works under general supervision, providing solutions to technical problems of moderate scope/complexity.

Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and manage one's time.

Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.

Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.

Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.

Knowledge of computer development software across multiple platforms.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.

2-4 years' experience required, preferably with two of those years performing in a lead or expert capacity.
