We have an opportunity available for a Technical Business Analyst to support our financial services-based client.

About the Role:

We are looking for a mid-level Technical Business Analyst to support high-visibility data initiatives within an agile environment. The ideal candidate is a traditional BA with a strong grasp of Agile methodologies, a deep understanding of data, and the curiosity to ask "why" behind every task.

You will partner with stakeholders, product owners, and a data-focused team to define requirements, lead agile ceremonies, and drive clarity on business needs. You'll play a key role in identifying data dependencies, conducting SQL-based analysis, and ensuring the business understands how data is being used.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Act as Scrum Master: lead Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
  • Collaborate with various business lines and Senior PM to align on priorities and manage dependencies
  • Gather and define business requirements for data initiatives
  • Identify, document, and analyze data sources, field-level definitions, and data access permissions
  • Conduct SQL queries to validate data and support analysis
  • Compare and reconcile new vs existing datasets
  • Provide insights into how stakeholders interact with and consume data
  • Participate in internal training (e.g., private equity fundamentals) and rotate across different projects
  • Support a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement
Requirements:
  • 5-6 years of experience in a Business Analyst role, with strong traditional BA skills
  • Background in data-heavy projects and data requirement gathering
  • Experience working with or as part of a Data Engineering or Analytics team
  • Solid SQL querying skills and analytical mindset
  • Comfortable managing Agile processes and ceremonies (Scrum Master experience a plus)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Technically curious and investigative - always asking "why?"
  • Able to handle ambiguity, drive clarity, and work independently
