Data Breach Associate Attorney Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Breach Associate Attorney to join our growing legal team in Sacramento, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in complex consumer litigation, False Claims Act litigation, Data Breach class actions, and Qui Tam lawsuits. Legal experience in the private or public sector is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Stay informed of federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as industry standards for data privacy and security.
Communicate effectively with clients, teams, and team leaders to develop Data Breach class action and Qui Tam lawsuits.
Draft pleadings, complaints, discovery, motions, and other court filings in various State and Federal Courts.
Conduct legal research on a variety of issues in State and Federal cases; present and argue motions in court.
Manage the mediation and court approval process for class action cases, including drafting class action preliminary approval motions, and drafting and arguing final approval and fees motions.
Oversee the filing of pleadings, tracking service of process, and ensuring SOL deadlines are met.
Opportunity to mediate select cases and engage in numerous second-chair mediation opportunities in Data Breach class action matters.
Qualifications:
JD degree from an accredited law school.
- Active bar license in any state.
4-5 years of experience practicing data privacy law preferred.
Exceptional writing, research, and oral communication skills.
Strong knowledge of international, federal, and state data privacy regulations.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Self-starter with experience in all phases of litigation, including interpretation of laws and regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite and case management software.
Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification is a plus.
