POSITION PURPOSE: The Data Analytics Intern will assist in the development and validation of data analytics solutions to enhance ACSC's business operations. This position provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in data documentation, analysis, and visualization, as well as project management support. This position is hybrid and will require the individual to be based in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The Data Analytics Intern position is expected to be full-time through the summer with a possibility of extension based on performance and company objectives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: The Data Analytics Intern reports to the Business Applications Manager.
The Data Analyst Intern completes the following essential functions within established company and department policies, procedures, deadlines, and budget constraints - Create and update reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI including choosing and arranging visualizations that effectively communicate key metrics and insights
- Gather requirements and ensure that the reports and dashboards meet the needs of various stakeholders
- Perform report validation by comparing new Power BI reports to reports generated by our legacy systems
- Assist with developing documentation to guide users on how to interact with the reports and dashboards. This includes creating user manuals and training materials
- Conduct small group training sessions for end-users to help them understand how to use the data analytics tools and interpret the results
- Assist in the creation of data dictionaries by reviewing documents, data files, and database schemas
- Assist with the preparation and update of project status reports and presentations for stakeholder reviews
- Develop and maintain backroom ETL jobs that feed our analytics reporting.
- Collaborative work in SQL data ingestion and cleansing
- The Data Analytics Team works in a highly collaborative manner, so this position satisfies independent work and team collaboration work
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: - Enrolled and in good standing within an accredited institution studying Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field is preferred
- Proficiency in querying languages such as T-SQL.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Microsoft Power BI.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Fluent in the English language; both written and spoken
- Highly logical with a keen attention to detail
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Desire and ability to quickly learn new technologies and methodologies
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES: Work Environment: The individual must be able to work in an environment with multiple interruptions, office noise, and competing and changing demands.
Physical Requirements: The individual must be able to, throughout the day, input and access information from the computer system, perform extensive keyboarding functions, type and use the phone system. The individual must be able to climb stairs, bend, kneel and lift 25 pounds.
Compensation Range: $16.00 - $20.00 /hr
