SUMMARY:
Under general direction of the VP of Continuous Improvement & PMO, the Data Analyst will combine non-complex programming skills with business operations knowledge to provide innovative and effective solutions to support and enhance the credit union's business operations. The analyst will work with various departments within the credit union to perform routine data mining activities for both leading and lagging indicators, as well as lead and conduct root cause analysis events. The analyst is responsible for monitoring and utilizing the Symitar core system data warehouse in conjunction with other non-integrated data sources for developing analytical reports and dashboards in support of the overall business intelligence program. They will serve as technical support to staff for data-related and report generation needs (at the data reporting and visualization layer) that could involve the use of MS Excel, MS Power BI, and/or other 3rd Party BI software solutions that the credit union may establish future relationships with.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
1. Serve as Data Steward via the collaboration with other team members and departments to assist with ad hoc projects related to operational and member data analytics needs.
2. Provide configuration and/or data management for data, information, files, and documents; and assist with the creation and maintenance of the enterprise-level data dictionary.
3. Participate at appropriate requirements gathering meetings, workshops, and technical meetings; as well as making formal presentations on results of root cause and data analysis.
4. Work within the business intelligence program in designing and developing reports, dashboards, and data extracts using PowerOn; also perform their ongoing maintenance.
5. Work with the testers during the quality assurance phase to ensure that the technical specifications as documented are testable and that all software components have corresponding test cases.
6. Ensures that programming operations are performed in accordance with established software development standards, policies, and procedures.
7. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager, including project implementations of various types.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• 1 to 2 years' experience with MS Excel. Experience with Symitar Easy Writer preferred.
• 2 to 3 years' experience performing data analysis activities for a financial institution.
• Familiarity with PC hardware / software components, and related hardware.
• General knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Knowledge/experience with the Symitar Episys Core preferred

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline preferred; one to three years of related experience or training, preferably in a financial institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, internal customers, and third-party vendors.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.
