The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Education Technology, Division of School Data Serviceshas an opening for a Data Analyst position in Frankfort, KY.

The department seeks to hire a smart, experienced, hardworking, and dependable Data Analyst to join ourdedicated team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform data analysis and research. Use data-oriented programming languages and tools to collect,query, analyze, and report on data.
  • Perform data analysis tasks and follow established standard procedures to assist in developing filesbased on file specifications. Conduct data analysis and research, interpreting results to assist in developingconsistent repeatable methods aimed at improving reporting efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address their data-related needs. Develop functionalrequirements documentation to transform raw data into reports and files that meet request requirements.Conduct thorough testing of data to ensure its accuracy and relevance.
  • Participate in developing methods to mitigate data issues and deploy corrective measures, reporting tohelp school districts. Proficiently utilize Microsoft Excel and SQL to test and compare data results. Thisincludes creating and executing test cases, validating data accuracy, identifying discrepancies, andgenerating reports to sum findings. Ensure data integrity and consistency by applying various Excel functionsand tools.
  • Provide updates and report on the status of outstanding tasks as requested. Assist in maintaining data-related documentation and libraries in SharePoint. Prioritize assignments effectively and escalate issues tothe team leader and supervisor when necessary. Ensure compliance with data security protocols and bestpractices, including adherence to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR a graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in information technology (IT) or related field OR certification in an IT-related field.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of professional experience in IT data analysis.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A master's degree in computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Two years of additional related experience in IT data analysis will substitute for the education requirement.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title typically perform duties in an office setting. May require minimal travel.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
