Data Analyst

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Informatics or a relevant field. Two (2) years of full-time experience performing informatics-related work in a clinical or research environment. Experience with MS Excel, MS Access, pivot tables, dashboard development, VBA, and/or SQL. Familiar with medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Informatics, Computer Science, or another relevant field. Four (4) or more years of full-time experience performing informatics-related work in a clinical or research environment. Experienced in Tableau, Python, Cerner Electronic Medical Record, and/or Qualtrics.

Brief Description of Duties:

We are thrilled to offer an outstanding opportunity to an experienced and motivated Informatics Analyst who wants to play a vital role in the success of the SUNY World Trade Center Health Program. You will be working closely with the organization's leadership, IT professionals, and vendors to ensure that our systems meet our organizational needs. You will leverage your expertise to optimize data collection, management systems, procedures, and workflows by utilizing cutting-edge technologies that will be critical to the success of our program.

As a Clinical Informatics Data/Project Analyst, you will have the chance to work side-by-side with our Informatics Manager to support our mission and collaborate with staff at all levels of seniority. Duties:

Data Visualization and Dashboards :
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency by implementing best practices in data governance, management, and quality control.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, translate business requirements into visual solutions, and enhance user experience.
  • Utilize data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Python-based libraries to present complex data in an intuitive and actionable format.
  • Continuously analyze and improve data workflows, leveraging automation and advanced analytics to streamline reporting and drive efficiency.
Data Management :
  • In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality datasets to support operational decision-making and research needs. You will use your expertise in data interpretation and analysis to identify and troubleshoot data transmission issues and provide ongoing reports to the team.
  • As a Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to filter and clean data by reviewing reports, printouts, and performance indicators, and remediate data errors by training users, interpreting instructions, and answering questions.
  • You will also be responsible for enforcing program standards for performance metrics, data collection, data integrity, query design, and reporting format to ensure high-quality, meaningful analytic output.
  • Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and improving data collection tools.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.
Informatics Project Management :
  • You'll be responsible for leading the implementation of new products and upgrades for our organization.
  • You will manage task lists for team members, maintain detailed project notes and records, and keep a close eye on project status.
  • You will propose detailed project plans, determine the order and timing in which tasks should be completed, and develop and maintain planning according to project timelines.
  • Your expertise in technology will come into play as you provide insight on building Access databases and communication protocols.
  • You'll work closely with staff to implement these solutions and continuously optimize databases' interface and validation methods to minimize data-entry errors and facilitate user experience. Furthermore, you'll develop and manage automated, customized reports in Access databases, Microsoft Excel, and Tableau for BI reports and interactive dashboards.
  • Your expertise in developing healthcare data analysis visualizations and supporting data linkages to those visualizations will help our organization achieve its goals.
Support:
  • As a liaison between WTC staff and Stony Brook IT, you'll work closely with the Informatics Manager to optimize and support the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, implement workflow changes, resolve hardware and software issues, and train staff on the best practices for using these systems.
  • Additionally, you will play a vital role in the resolution of technical and operational issues both internally and externally.
  • You may also be assigned other duties as needed to support the success of the team.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

The incumbent must be willing to work and travel between the Westbury and Commack clinic locations. Occasional Evenings and Saturdays will be required.
