ROLE AND PURPOSE: - The Data Analyst will be an analytical, self-motivated team member who can assist in interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques, and effectively displaying data to support district insight and decision making.
- The Analyst should have ability to understand, interpret, and apply state accountability standards.
- The Analyst should have applied experience with sophisticated data analytic approaches and advanced quantitative abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (Master's degree highly preferred)
Experience: - Minimum of two years of experience in data analytics, reporting, and visualizations
- Strong knowledge of and experience with SQL querying and data reporting (PowerBI preferred)
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, etc.)
Special Knowledge/Skills - Ability to understand and interpret rules, formulas, and policies aligned to the state accountability system
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated skills in working with complex details
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: - INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Analytics and Accountability to determine data analytics best practices and visualization approaches.
- Assist with the psychometric analyses of district assessments.
- Assist with creation of best-practice reports based on data mining, analysis, and visualization.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
- Filter and "clean" data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code issues/problems.
- Interpret data, identify trends, and analyze results using statistical techniques and analyses of complex datasets.
- Build reports and dashboards that effectively display pertinent information (PowerBI preferred).
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
- Assist in the creation of new reports and maintenance of existing reports on the AISD Reports site.
- Provide assistance and training to campus and district staff in the areas of analytical interpretations, AISD reports site, and the state accountability system.
- SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
- Attend and participate in academic services and other district-level meetings and committees.
- Ensure completion of systems of communication that provide guidelines, services, and support to campus and district staff.
- Exemplify effective problem-solving methods that are customer-service oriented.
- Assists with the execution of department tasks related to analytics and accountability.
- SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
- Review, evaluate, and interpret state accountability rules to train and advise school administrators and district leaders on new regulations.
- Work directly with campus and district staff to gather requirements, provide status updates, and build relationships.
- SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
- Participate as an influential team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
- Prepare presentations related to assessment and accountability for Board of Trustee meetings, senior staff presentations, principal meetings, and other departments.
- PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Establish ongoing goals for professional learning to remain current in innovative and effective statistical and analytical methods.
- Maintain a network of professional colleagues and membership in professional associations, attends relevant conferences, and stays current on professional literature in the area of analytics and accountability.
- Identify new methods in the areas of analytics to support decisions and applies new knowledge and skills to improve programming, campus support, and district operations.
- MISCELLANEOUS
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Analytics and Accountability.
- Travel district-wide.
