The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.

This is an on-site position located in Indianapolis, Indiana. You will be expected to be in office 5 days a week. There is no remote option for this role.

POSITION PURPOSE - Data Analyst II

Familiarity with, or experience in analyzing "things that move" as in vehicles or people, is a foundational aspect of the work that will be performed in this position. This position is also responsible for managing multiple diverse and complex projects to track performance improvement and serves as a liaison to achieve efficiency and process improvements throughout the agency. This would be achieved through various levels of technical data management, supporting IndyGo's current and future projects through the analysis of data from multiple sources. These functions will generally be performed to identify, visualize, and track key performance indicators, measure progress on desired outcomes, and identify potential efficiencies in agency processes and procedures.

The chosen candidate will work in partnership with others in their respective division and other departments to conduct relevant analyses and communicate meaningful insights to general stakeholder groups and the public at large. This position will also be responsible for alerting others to any issues, anomalies, or opportunities they uncover while performing their duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Creates automated workflows and interactive dashboards to generate departmental reporting, using programming languages and/or BI Tools.
  • Develops and enhances methods for data collection, validation, and analysis from multiple internal and external sources, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and proper documentation.
  • Perform database management functions including the maintenance of databases for ridership data, service data, and field collection data.
  • Respond to standard and ad-hoc requests for relevant operation, ridership or service data as needed for internal and external customers.
  • Use historical data to research, evaluate, and summarize trends and anomalies to generate statistical data models that assess performance and measure operational costs and efficiencies.
  • Leads various projects with departments to improve performance and efficiency and reduce costs. Identifies and monitors project deliverables scope, plan, issues, risks, and milestones.
  • Provides on-going oversight and support to departments to ensure that measures are being implemented to effectively manage operations and affect improved efficiency.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE- Data Analyst II

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or combination of education and professional experience equivalent. Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in Data Analysis / Business Analysis with a bachelor's degree or one (1) year of professional experience with a master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience working with Advanced SQL, Automating Scripts, Excel, Power BI/Tableau and data manipulation/statistical software packages such as R, SAS, or Python.
  • Experience in working with APIs for data retrieval and integration, as well as utilizing web scraping libraries for automated data extraction and processing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with oral and written communication abilities to effectively engage diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in writing SQL queries, including window functions, stored procedures, triggers, and performance optimization techniques for efficient database operations.
  • Proficient in developing interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI, utilizing DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling techniques for insightful visual analytics and business intelligence solutions.
  • Proficient in using Power Query for data transformation, cleaning, and preparation, along with advanced Excel functions like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and data analysis tools for efficient reporting and visualization.
  • Skilled in API integration for ETL workflows, leveraging Python (e.g., requests, Airflow) and R for automation scripting, data extraction, transformation, and process optimization.
  • Skilled in web scraping using Python libraries enabling automated data extraction, parsing, and integration into ETL workflows.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, effectively balancing priorities, deadlines, and budget constraints, while adapting to dynamic project needs and shifting focus as required.
  • Great to have experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for developing and deploying reports, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for ETL processes and data workflows.
