Job Purpose:

Determines impacts to integrated systems due to data changes. Transforms functional and non-functional data requirements into executable technical specifications. Analyzes and mines data to identify patterns and correlations; communicates data-driven insights and recommendations to stakeholders. Identifies, documents, explains, and prioritizes defects.

Essential Functions:

Determines impacts to integrated systems as a result of new data types or changes to existing data models. Maps and traces data from system to system in order to solve business or system problems. Provides a data-centric perspective, demonstrating an understanding of common data management practices. Creates SQL queries to gather information, find examples, and validate development work.

Gathers, evaluates, and prioritizes business requirements; translates business requirements into clear, actionable development tasks. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and support decision-making processes. Identifies acceptance criteria and completes quality assurance testing to ensure criteria has been met. Facilitates user acceptance testing and creates end-user documentation where needed.

Serves as lead analyst for small and medium projects.

Works with internal and external resources across varying organizational levels and departments. Recommends solutions to stakeholders based on an understanding of the data and the business. Communicates findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Creates or updates dashboards, queries, and reports where necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, management information systems or related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of data analysis experience, with a proven ability to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Business intelligence experience with tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, R, and/or Python desired.
  • Experience in validating data accuracy and integrity within ETL pipelines, including executing test cases, data reconciliation, and troubleshooting discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of SDLC and agile methodology.
  • Background in insurance and/or banking preferred.
Skills:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in research, analysis, and problem-solving, with a focus on root-cause analysis and pattern identification.
  • Proficient at using SQL to query, validate, and transform data.
  • Ability to create data mapping documents, elicit data requirements, and translate business needs into actionable transformation rules.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactively seeks answers and insights, demonstrating curiosity, motivation, and attention to detail. Self-directed in exploring data to identify potential opportunities or gaps.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring effective prioritization.

Mental Demands: Must have the ability to focus on tasks for extended periods of time. Must be flexible and have the ability to work with a variety of tasks and projects. Ability to plan, organize, be detail and deadline oriented and maintain a high accuracy rate.

Physical Demands: Continuous sitting for extended periods of time, some standing, walking, bending and reaching. Frequent use of fingers and hands to manipulate computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
