Job Summary:

The Ordering Clerk manages and coordinatesthe store's ordering and inventory control processes while ensuring efficient and accuratestock levels.

Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Place and manageorders for store merchandise, ensuring timelyand accurateprocurement of items.
  • Verify and track orders from suppliers, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and salespeople to ensure optimalorder fulfillment.
  • Oversee department standards, maintainaccuratestock levels, proper codes, and good rotation of items.
  • Verify invoices for accuratebilling and maintaininventory control.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts and adjust orders accordingly.
  • Reviewall DSD deliveries to ensure accurateand timelyreceipt of goods.
  • Followall safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
  • Operatewarehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and barcode scanners safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor for and report any theft, damage, or loss of inventory and takesteps to minimize shrinkage.
  • Monitor store conditions and reportareas of concern to store management promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:
  • Understanding of inventory systems and procedures.
  • Familiarity with standard warehouse practices, safety protocols, and equipment.
  • Awareness of grocery products and categories to handle and store items correctly.
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and other relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Understandprocedures for ordering.
Skills:
  • Ensureaccuracy in stock levels and documentation.
  • Proficiencyin using inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with other staff and managing documentation.
Abilities:
  • Ability to identifyand resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies or storage problems.
  • Efficiently managing time to complete tasks within deadlines, especially during busy periods.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle various tasks as needed.
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
  • Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequentlyand up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
  • Climbing ladders to perform warehousetasks at elevated heights.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.
  • Move quickly and efficiently to assistcustomers and manage workload.
  • Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as using tools or handling small objects.
  • Operateequipment to move or storeproducts and displays.
Work Conditions:
  • Work Hours: Vary, with availability requiredon weekends, evenings, and holidays; typically, 8-hour shifts for full-time employees.
  • Environment: Indoor, climate-controlled,with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Primary Work Stations: Work within the grocery store environments, which includevarious sections such as the sales floor, backrooms, and exterior areas.
  • Dress Code: Professional and presentable attire as determinedby store management, including a name tag, company-issued shirts, hats, jackets, or personal shirts that are black, burgundy, or blue, in good repair,and not faded.
  • Exposure: May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals.
  • Noise Level: Usually lowto moderate, with occasional loud periods from customers, store announcements, and equipment.
  • Interaction: Constant interaction with customers and team members in a fast-paced retail environment.
