The Cycle Instructor leads, instructs, and motivates participants in group cycling classes. They teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time, and provide adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down. Duties and Responsibilities The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the required duties. Instruction -Provide cycle instruction every week, facilitating at least one permanent weekly class. -Greet, introduce, and welcome participants, acquainting them with class procedures. -Lead, instruct, and motivate participants in group cycling classes that cater to the people in the room. -Assist participants, answer questions, and maintain professional relationships with members. -Assist with the cycling program's continual development, implementation, and evaluation. Professional Expectations -Maintain appropriate professional certification(s) and remain current on cycling and health & wellness trends. -Maintain professional standards among employees and members, including punctuality, proper attire, and maintaining a friendly, safe, and motivating group fitness relationship. -Strive for excellence by being a positive role model and information source. -Ensure that the ultimate goal of all people's spiritual, emotional, and physical regeneration is represented and infused in the program. -Be available to work mornings, evenings, and weekends. -Maintain the cleanliness and order of the studio. Safety/Equipment -Report unsafe facility and equipment conditions to management. -Monitor the maintenance of cycling equipment and report repairs as needed. -Ensure the exercise equipment is safe, clean, and in proper working order. Administration -Keep accurate records of hours worked using the timekeeping system for payroll. -Attend staff meetings as assigned. -Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors. Requirements -Must hold Cycling certification from a credible organization. (ACE, AAISMA, NASM, ASAA, ACSM) -CPR and AED certification required. -Must understand and support The Salvation Armys mission as a church and a social services organization. Desired Qualifications -Proven ability to instruct a cycling class, with strong teaching and presentation skills. -Focus on customer service and strong communication skills with highly diverse populations. -Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. -Excellent interpersonal skills. -Adaptable, flexible & reliable. -Proven experience in leadership and communication skills. -Time management skills. -Demonstrated dedication to professional development through active engagement in the fitness industry.
