Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Engineer Intern to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting cybersecurity operations in a federal contracting environment. Under the supervision of experienced professionals, you will gain exposure to cutting-edge tools and methodologies used to protect national assets and data infrastructure. Day to Day Responsibilities: Assist in the identification and mitigation of cybersecurity risks across systems and applications. Support security monitoring using tools such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and EDR platforms. Participate in compliance activities, including audit support, documentation, and internal assessments. Contribute to incident detection and response activities alongside the cybersecurity team. Help maintain and improve security operations procedures and technical documentation. Apply federal cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST SP 800-53 and Risk Management Framework (RMF). Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship is required. Currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Basic understanding of networking concepts and security fundamentals. Strong interest in federal cybersecurity practices and risk management. Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications: Coursework or certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., Security+, Network+, or equivalent). Exposure to scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash). Familiarity with cybersecurity tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nessus, Splunk, Metasploit). Awareness of federal compliance standards (FISMA, FedRAMP, CMMC). Government Clearance Eligibility This internship may involve access to sensitive systems and requires compliance with federal contracting security standards. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and may be subject to background checks or eligibility screenings for future security clearances (Public Trust or higher). Preference may be given to candidates eligible for a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Internship Benefits Mentorship by senior cybersecurity and IT professionals.
