Hiring Salary: $6,067.28 - $6,666.67/Monthly

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Cybersecurity Engineer reviews technical documentation, oversees, and recommends best practices for integration within the UT Health Science Center ITS infrastructure. This position involves protecting systems, networks, data, and assets from cyber threat through various security measures audited and implemented and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Provides support and development for new infrastructure, and oversees implementation of current, new, and future solutions within the ITS infrastructure from a cybersecurity and compliance perspective.
  2. Oversees and supports the configuration of security tools such as SIEMs, EDRs, and firewalls.
  3. Develops and implements security procedures and playbooks.
  4. Manages and supports configuration of security tools.
  5. Evaluates technical review documentation to ensure devices are configured securely.
  6. Reviews technical solutions to ensure technical compliance with regulations such as HIPAA and FERPA.
  7. Reviews technical and security controls and provides recommendations to mitigate identified risks.
  8. Evaluates new solutions and create implementation plans within other ITS departments.
  9. Works inter-departmentally within ITS to coordinate tasks, communication, and next steps to support the implementation of new and existing technology and resolve any issues
  10. Communicates with both end-users and third-party vendors to determine requirements needed to resolve tickets, requests, and convey and risk concerns and progress.
  11. Researches and analyzes emerging technologies, frameworks, and innovations in current utilized technologies.
  12. Provides forensic investigation support for both requested investigations and sequestrations as well as support for integrated and implemented solutions as one of the leading ITS member with product or solution knowledge
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT IS REQUIRED).

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of cybersecurity experience; OR Master's Degree and one (1) year of cybersecurity experience; OR a combination of related work experience and education equal to seven (7) years. Minimum of two (2) cybersecurity certifications such as Network+ and Security+.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity skills including data forensics, best practices, and securing of products and assets to industry standards.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and requirements to meet for each.
  • Knowledge of data classification and the impact on product integration or implementation based on classification levels.
  • Understanding of several cybersecurity frameworks including NIST, IS27001, CIS controls, and SOC2.
  • Knowledge of the overall infrastructure of ITS and the integration of products within it.
  • Strong desire to keep up with emerging tools and technologies and how those can be utilized within the current infrastructure.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends.
