We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to work at least three days a week on site from our Bath head office, supporting design, improvement and maintaining security solutions, posture and baselines across various aspects of information security within the YTL Group IT, OT and cloud environments.

You need to be able to respond and adapt in a fast-changing environment, be initiative-taking, work well under pressure and be confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

What you'll do

You will:

  • support 'Secure by Design' by assisting the drive of cyber security improvement across any new or existing area, platform or practice
  • deliver secure build standards and profiles, and improve asset and image hardening, establishing baselines and ensuring compliance in collaboration with other teams
  • develop and maintain a secure cloud security baseline, and test and maintain a secure configuration in the cloud
  • manage and maintain security tools and sensors, and configure, manage and maintain an array of cyber security tools and technologies, including anti-virus products, SIEM, EDR and CASB
  • monitor and analyse security events, conduct assessments and recommend or take actions as required, including recommending and implementing countermeasures or mitigating controls across environments
  • support our cyber incident response and incident response teams
  • provide follow-on engineering support for incident assessment, management and recovery, ensuring all pertinent information is obtained to allow for the identification, containment, eradication and recovery actions to occur in a time-sensitive environment
  • review and work to resolve tickets generated by the Service Desk and the MSSP, and work closely with the other members of the Cyber Security team
  • support operational planning, reporting and compliance and create and continuously improve standard operating procedures used by the Security team
  • guide and support cyber security across the business by working alongside the security team members to contribute expert advice on IT security topics
  • join a duty roster of incident managers to provide out-of-hours cover.
What you'll need
  • Apprenticeship level 3 or higher in Cyber Security
  • Demonstrable knowledge of security engineering standards, practices and procedures and an understanding of important security concepts
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience deploying and configuring common security technologies and tools
  • Experience working in an environment that delivers IT and Cyber Security projects and solutions
  • Enthusiastic about security and keen to promote security awareness and looking for areas where security may be improved
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience documenting procedures, giving presentations and the ability to clearly explain security requirements and security concepts
  • Knowledge of security protocols, technologies and best practices
  • Knowledge of cyber security threats and the application of countermeasures with a desire to deepen knowledge
  • Understanding of cloud concepts and an understanding of cloud security principles, techniques and technologies, as well as knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows (desktop and server), Unix and Linux operating systems
  • Motivated with the ability to work in an independent manner
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking, and problem resolution skills
  • Strong people skills with a drive to provide high-quality service to all Cyber Security customers and the business/businesses
  • Excellent team working capabilities and ability to work well under pressure
  • Must have good conflict management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
