Description JOB SUMMARY

Colorado Works Subsidized Training and Employment Program (CW STEP) is a statewide program administered by Colorado Department of Human Services. The goal of this program is to assist Colorado Works eligible recipients in attaining living-wage, permanent jobs through employment opportunities with subsidized wages, including transitional jobs. CW STEP aims to address the TANF purpose of reducing the dependency of Colorado Works parents by promoting job preparation and work.

Receive paid, on-the-job training and support up to 40 hours per week for 12 weeks while working to overcome any barriers to employment you've been facing

During the transitional employment program, you'll earn the prevailing wage along with continuing your TANF benefits to bring stability to your day-to-day life

Gain marketable skills working in diverse and in-demand industries

Learn about current job opening and secure permanent job placement while continuing to receive ongoing support

Be a part of stimulating the local economies by improving the economic health of Colorado

Criteria:

Adults receiving Colorado Works Basic Cash Assistance (BCA) or adults with children in the home and an annual household income under $75,000. SNAP recipients with children will be prioritized.

Lawfully present and eligible to work in the United States

Colorado residents

At least 18 years old

Not incarcerated or otherwise unavailable for work

Unemployed, or employed for no more than 10 hours per week, for at least four consecutive weeks

Demonstration of active job search through the public workforce system

Drug test may be required for certain positions.

Placement occurs at a variety of host employers throughout the community. Below are the top 5 industries for placement:

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Employee may perform one or more of the following job duties depending upon their physical and mental abilities:

RETAIL STEP PARTICPANT-

Greets customers and gives customer a shopping cart.

Bags merchandise for cashiers

Greets donors, gives receipt, and thanks the donors.

Removes donations from containers and loads onto the conveyor belt.

Sorts shoes.

Color codes clothing.

Sorts hangers.

Removes outdated clothing from racks according to week number.

Cleans mirrors in dressing rooms, checks empty dressing rooms, removes any clothes, re-hangs in proper area.

Cleans employee break room.

Vacuums, dusts, sweeps or mops the front of the store. Sweeps the back room of the store.

Dusts racks, shelves, in store.

Cleans bathroom mirrors, toilet and floors, replaces toilet paper and paper towels.

Empties store trash, picks up trash and pulls weeds around outside of store.

Cleans store windows

Builds and maintains effective quality working relationships with management, co-workers, customers and donors. Treats everyone with dignity and respect. Immediately advises supervisor of significant and unexpected problems. Promotes and demonstrates teamwork and cooperation.

Completes assignments accurately and timely.

Safeguards all Goodwill property including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession/removal of Goodwill property.

Follows all Goodwill policies and procedures. Follows safety rules and regulations. Acts safely at all times.

Works flexible schedules, overtime, weekends and holidays if required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

OPERATIONS STEP PARTICIPANT-

Sweeps the sales floor and the warehouse. Empties trash cans on the sales floor.

Collects shopping carts from the parking lot.

Cleans the break room/restrooms and stocks toiletry products in men's and lady's restrooms.

Cleans windows at the front of the store and the entrance.

Cleans and picks up the outside front entrance. Empties trash can at the front entrance.

Cleans and organizes the donation area in the warehouse.

Builds and maintains effective quality working relationships with management, co-workers, customers and donors. Treats everyone with dignity and respect. Immediately advises supervisor of significant and unexpected problems. Promotes and demonstrates teamwork and cooperation.

Completes assignments accurately and timely.

Safeguards all Goodwill property including donated goods. Reports any suspicious behavior, incidents of theft or unauthorized possession/removal of Goodwill property.

Follows all Goodwill policies and procedures. Follows safety rules and regulations. Acts safely at all times.

Supports the best elements of our corporate culture while making culture change. Open to and supportive of new ideas and process improvement of systems and procedures.

Works flexible schedules, overtime, weekends and holidays if required.

Performs other duties as assigned.
