DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: United Digestives Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing effective customer service to patients, vendors, insurance companies, and other medical facilities. The position requires excellent telephone communication skills, and a high level of skill in entering data into the computer while talking with patients.
REPORTS TO: Revenue Cycle Manger
RESPONSIBILITES Duties include but are not limited to:
- Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and complete data entry as needed
- Review patients account history to understand payments received and amount due from patient
- Provide transaction history summary to patient to help them understand their copay/coinsurance/deductible owed on their account
- Request and obtain payment from patient for balance owed
- Route calls as necessary to appropriate resource
- Identify and escalate priority issues
- Document all call information to ensure proper call history is recorded
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED required, 2 years of college or Associates Degree preferred; 2 years of customer service experience in a health care organization is required, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Must be customer service oriented, computer literate and able to operate an Electronic Medical Record (preferably eCW), and multiple Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of medical terminology, effective mathematical and analytical skills are required, along with advanced trouble shooting skills.

- Displays a professional outgoing warm and helpful attitude
- Always provide a high level of service to all stakeholders including coworkers, patients, physicians, and vendors
- Communicate clearly with coworkers, patients, physicians and vendors through telephone, email, and in-person
- Plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by RCM Leadership
- Must be flexible, organized, and function well under pressure
- Answer emails, voicemails, communicate issues in a timely and efficient manner
- High level of curiosity, self-motivation, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Maintain composure and always set a professional example
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment, travel as business needs dictate.
