We are seeking a highly motivated individual with Customer Service experience to join our South County team located in Delray Beach. We provide on the job training.

As a member of Customer Service, you will assist a wide-range of customers coming into the courthouse seeking assistance in relation to civil matters, i.e. passports, marriage licenses, filing civil cases and more. Among other duties, you will be tasked with accepting payments and answering customer inquiries via phone and email. This position will help you build a strong foundation to build a successful career in our Civil area.

This position is eligible for a one dollar per hour stipend which has already been added to the salary advertised. The one dollar per hour stipend will be awarded upon completion of the introductory period. The stipend will no longer apply should the employee transfer out of this position.

This position requires up to five days of mandatory onsite training which is conducted at the main courthouse (205 N. Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach, FL 33401).

Examples of Essential Functions
  • Assists Court Specialist Lead and management team with quality control overall departmental efficiency and procedural development as needed.
  • Marriage license and ceremony duties: processes marriage licenses; generates and issues licenses; performs marriage ceremonies for all customers; cashiers related fees; records licenses into the Official Records.
  • Comes to work and work the regular schedule and shift for the position.
  • Complies with all personnel policies and procedures.
FUNCTIONS SPECIFIC TO BRANCH COURT SERVICES

Employees assigned to the Branch Court Services area perform the essential functions as outlined above as well as:
  • Accepts and processes documents to be filed in County Civil cases, including eviction and small claims case types;
  • Accepts and processes documents to be filed in family law cases, including Dissolution of Marriage, Paternity, and Child Support case types;
  • Accept and create new cases for both Civil cases and Family cases.
  • Accepts documents for recording; identifies document type; verifies statutory requirements
  • Calculates and cashiers related fees; issues certified copies;
  • Performs specialized recording tasks including the processing of Declaration of Domicile and Domestic Partnership;
  • Scans documents; verifies legibility of documents scanned into the Official Records;
  • Accepts and processes passport applications as Acceptance Agent;
  • Accepts VAB petitions;
  • Processes e-filed documents;
  • Scans and updates over-the-counter documents;
  • Sets court hearings;
  • Provides statistical reports; runs collections process and payoff requests; performs other customer service-related functions.
Typical Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or GED) supplemented by five (5) years of recent and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to accurately apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data preferably in an automated systems environment;
  • or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Some vocational or college courses preferred.
  • Once qualified deputization may be required to perform the assigned functions.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US non-citizen national pursuant to 22 C.F.R. 51.22(b) to perform passport services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Previous experience in cashiering preferred but not required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
