Class Summary Job DescriptionThe Customer Service Associate position supports the Police Records Section by performing entry level clerical, switchboard, typing, data entry, customer service, filing duties, and report processing. The incumbent will also have open records responsibilities that include processing open records requests received by the Police Department.
Essential Duties - Maintenance, processing, storage and destruction of all files, records, and documents submitted to the section. These would include citations, incident reports, accident reports, investigator's reports, and other official police reporting as directed.
- Issuance of Police Permits required by Gwinnett County ordinances.
- Provides reports/documentation to customers in accordance with Georgia Open Records Laws.
- Processes open records requests received by the Police Department.
- Fingerprints and conducts criminal history checks for citizens.
- Performs entry level clerical, switchboard, typing, data entry, customer service and filing duties.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature.
- Must be able to work evening hours, weekends, on occasion, or shift work, and must be able to work at off-site locations which may include any of the 6 Police Precincts or Permits office as needed.
Grade The grade for this position is A13(1).
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications - High School Diploma, or G.E.D.;
- Two years of customer support experience;
- Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Preferred Qualifications Other Job Requirements/Information - Driver's License form State of Residency.
- GCIC Certification required within six months of employment.
- Completion of Defensive Driving course within one year of employment.
- This job requires a public safety background check to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories, and finger printing.
- Although the work schedule is typicality Monday through Friday (both day and evening hours), there may be an occasion for weekend or holiday work.
- Multilanguage translations may be required.
