PRIMARY PURPOSE: Follow routine cleaning procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency pertaining to assigned facilities and the grounds surrounding the facilities. Duties vary frequently.
QUALIFICATIONS:- High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Basic understanding and verbalization of the English
MAJOR RESPONSBILITIES AND DUTIES:- Follow established AISD safety procedures
- Abide by all AISD Board policies as well as procedures outlined in the Auxiliary Employee Handbook
- Read and understand instructions for cleaning and safety procedures
- Follow established procedures for cleaning buildings, floors, chalk/marker boards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment and rest rooms
- Keep all district facilities and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and playground areas, neat and clean
- Keep custodial closet neat, clean, safe and organized
- Operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy items and/or equipment
- Assist with lunchroom setup, including tables and chairs, as well as setting up and breaking down facilities for special events
- Work cooperatively with District personnel to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in building operations
- Assume responsibility for daily directives given by the Custodial Foreman, Operations Supervisor or Director of Operations.
- Maintain effective communication and rapport within assigned department and with all other areas of contact
- Assist with opening and closing facility each day
- Position may require overtime, as necessary to maintain the function of District facilities
- Position will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving on-call duty, as required to maintain the function of District Facilities
- Any other duties as may be directed by your immediate supervisor and/or any other supervisor within your line of authority
JOB DUTIES:- Locking and unlocking buildings, setting alarms, changing lights, delivering supplies and equipment, raising and lowering flags, moving furniture, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash, moping, dust mopping, sweeping, stripping, waxing, shampooing, buffing and burnishing
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: EQUIPMENT USED:- Equipment repair tools, vacuum, high-speed and low-speed buffer, blower, auto-scrubber, carpet extractor, burnisher, walk-behind, stand-on, ride-on equipment, and all other equipment necessary for District use
MISCELLANEOUS- Performs other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONSMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:- Tools/Equipment Used: Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater; small hand tools; small power tools
- Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching
- Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) daily
- Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippe1y or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours
- Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress

This is a pooled position. It is open year round even if no current openings exist.
