Job Title: Casual CT Technologist Location: UPMC Williamsport Job Type: Casual/Per Diem Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and flexible CT Technologist to join our team on a casual basis at UPMC Williamsport. This role requires the ability to work various shifts to cover vacations and call-offs, as well as participate in rotating weeks and holiday sign-ups. We welcome applications from current 2nd-year radiology students who meet our criteria. The successful candidate will be placed in the appropriate job code and salary at the time of hire. Key Responsibilities: CT Procedures: Perform computed tomography procedures using established scan protocols, including contrast administration, independently and without constant supervision. Imaging Equipment: Utilize complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation, ensuring procedures are completed according to protocol. Data Management: Ensure all exams are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and that all charges are accurately entered. Contrast Administration: Administer oral, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and department policies, assessing patients for potential risk factors prior to administration. Patient Interaction: Communicate instructions clearly and concisely to patients, explaining procedures to alleviate fears and ensure cooperation. Technical Proficiency: Perform a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment to adjust protocols and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes. Team Collaboration: Work effectively with patients and co-workers, demonstrating a high level of care, listening, dignity, and respect. Collaborate with other departments to expedite patient care efficiently. Patient Identification: Ensure proper patient identification using two patient identifiers and adhere to universal protocols during procedures. Review patient history and physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results. Document patient history in electronic records as required. Venipuncture and Injector Use: Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and the use of power injectors according to department and manufacturer protocols. Qualifications: Ability to perform technical procedures independently with sound judgment and initiative. Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care. Why Join Us? Qualifications: Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of accredited CNMT program. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist is required or certified by a CNMT program. Must obtain CT board certification within 18 months of hire date, 24 months of hire date if certified by a CNMT program. CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
