Job summary
CTMUHB invites applications for a CT LAS in Emergency Medicine.
The post offers opportunities for career development, including Life Support courses, Clinical Audit, Grand Round Presentations, Complaints Management, development and updating of Care Pathways, support and mentoring of medical students, and a bespoke junior weekly consultant-led teaching programme.

Main duties of the job
The post is designed for individuals seeking experience in Emergency Medicine. It is for up to 6 months, with a possible extension of another 6 months, and involves working a rota including nights and weekends. Responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the Emergency service at Prince Charles Hospital
- Participating in initial assessment, treatment, referral, and disposition of patients attending the Emergency Department
- Liaising with other clinical team members and specialties
- Working shifts including nights and weekends
- Participating in clinical audits and activities
- Attending regular teaching sessions and completing eLearning objectives

Job responsibilities
Duties Of The Post
Clinical responsibilities include managing and treating all patients in the Emergency Department, working autonomously under supervision from consultant staff.
The appointment adheres to the Terms and Conditions of Service for Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales).
Other Conditions include:
- Registration with the GMC prior to starting
- Membership of a Medical Defence/Protection society is encouraged but not mandatory
- Completion of a medical examination and documentation of Hepatitis B status
The doctor may be required to perform duties in emergencies or unforeseen circumstances at the request of a consultant, with the understanding that such duties are occasional and not prolonged or regular.
Person Specification Work Experience
- Previous UK NHS experience at FP3 level or above required; clinical observer/attachment not acceptable
Knowledge
- Familiarity with the NHS system in the UK
Education
- Full GMC registration
- Full registration with ATLS, ALS, PALS, or APLS provider status
Other
- Knowledge of and ability to use the Welsh language

Salary: £1,767.60 per week including banding.
