Position Title: Crop Consultant

Location: Michigan

Reports to: Location Manager

Crop Consultant Primary Objectives:


  • Gather data and collaborate with growers to make agronomic decisions aimed at maximizing profitability.
  • Cover 80000 acres from 150 growers.
  • Contribute to achieving the cooperative's mission statement and objectives.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service in all tasks.
  • Help with precision pivot irrigation by monitoring those systems electronically for the growers.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and cooperative policies and procedures.

Crop Consultant Responsibilities:


  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the developmental stages and nutritional requirements of various crops.
  • Conduct field scouting in customer's fields, evaluating pest pressure and nutritional status.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of crop protectants, their application rates, and usage.
  • Collect soil fertility samples and utilize the data to formulate fertility and lime recommendations.
  • Utilize software programs to generate scouting reports, recommendations, Nutrient Management plans, field maps, and other relevant reports.

Crop Consultant Qualifications:


  • A two-year degree in agriculture or a related field is mandatory; a four-year degree in agriculture or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions on a daily basis.
  • Commitment to seasonal hours is essential.
  • CCA Preferred.
  • Physical capability to bend, twist, lift 25 pounds or more, and walk consistently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a prerequisite.
  • Basic computer and technology proficiency.
