•$56.35 Base Hourly Rate
•$4.93 Health & Welfare Hourly Rate (all paid hours up to 40 per week)

•Sick Time & Vacation CURRENT SHIFTS: Night Shift: 7:30pm 8:00am The Registered Nurse will support the on-site Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) located at 2002 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, TX. Registered Nurses may be required to work in areas of the highest need on the date of their scheduled shifts. Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Assess and act on significant changes in the patient's/resident's health condition
• Carry out the plan of care by performing/assigning delegated tasks
• Insert IV lines
• Care and management of peripheral and central lines, including PICC lines
• Administer medication including IVs
• Measure vital signs/hemodynamic monitoring including Pain (the 5th Vital Sign), pulse oximetry, etc.
• Perform wound care including dressing changes (sterile and non-sterile), and obtaining wound cultures as necessary
• Perform tracheostomy care
• Perform non-acute and/or acute ventilator care, if needed
• Perform suctioning including oral, nasogastric, and tracheostomy
• Perform deep suctioning, which may include obtaining specimens
• Assess for and administer tube feedings
• Assist with routine urinary and bowel elimination including catheters, colostomies, and digital stimulation
• Respond and assist in an emergency situation MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Licensed in any State, Territory, Commonwealth of the U.S. or D.C.
• BLS and ACLS
• Willing to work 12- hour shifts and be available for WHEN shifts (weekends, holidays, evenings and nights)
• 1 year of experience (within the past 5 years) in ICU
• Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills
• Must be able to perform in a stressful and high-paced environment without physical limitations. Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and carry up to 10ft
