POSITION SUMMARY
The Crisis Stabilization Technician (Milieu Specialist) functions as a leader in providing de-escalation and support strategies to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. The Crisis Stabilization Technician also provides effective support to facilitate improvement in client functioning level in a Crisis Stabilization Unit operated by a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC). The Crisis Stabilization Technician must be able to work various shifts.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
- Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers of individuals
- Conducts ongoing observation of individuals for the purpose of reporting any significant changes, including close observation
- Responds quickly to critical situations that may require restrictive interventions
- Performs room safety checks, insuring that individuals are safe from potentially dangerous objects
- Monitors behavioral interventions/close observations
- Reports and confers with supervisor on changes in client behavior
- Prepares paperwork and other documentation as required
- Communicates and documents critical incidents to supervisors
- Implements, evaluates and document specific interventions that are utilized to provide client safety
Non-Essential Functions:
- Provides verbal de-escalation to clients
- Assists clients with personal hygiene and meals
- Maintains and assures client confidentiality
- Interacts in a supportive manner to family members and visitors
- Assists in chart auditing and files paper and documents in chart binders
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience working in the mental health field or crisis environment is preferred.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION
- CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) are required; organization will provide if not already attained.
