About the Role

Rooted is seeking a driven and hands-on Crew Development & Operations Lead to oversee and support our mowing and maintenance crews. This role combines leadership, operational oversight, and crew development-ideal for someone passionate about training new employees, refining systems, and ensuring smooth field operations. You'll be responsible for building a strong training process, managing daily field operations, and coaching teams to achieve high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Development

  • Train new crew members on mowing, edging, trimming, and general maintenance standards.
  • Develop and implement a training program for new hires, ensuring an effective onboarding process with hands-on field training.
  • Coach team leads and crew members to improve safety, efficiency, and quality.
  • Identify skill gaps and create tailored development plans to elevate team performance.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and pride in work.

Field Operations Support

  • Act as field support for daily operations, helping to troubleshoot, re-route crews, and fill in operational gaps as needed.
  • Monitor job site performance, ensuring crews meet quality standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct site visits to check on performance and provide feedback.
  • Support logistics with equipment checks, routing improvements, and time management.
  • Act as the communication bridge between the field and office teams.

Training & Development

  • Establish and maintain a consistent training framework for new and existing employees.
  • Track and measure the success of training programs, refining them for continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing professional development through training, mentorship, and feedback.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in landscaping or lawn maintenance, ideally in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of mowing and maintenance operations and safety practices.
  • Proven leadership experience with small teams and a focus on developing others.
  • Experience in training new hires and creating effective development plans.
  • Hands-on, problem-solving mindset and adaptability to changing situations.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Skills

  • Spanish-speaking is a plus, as it will enhance communication with diverse teams.
