Role Description
We are seeking an Overhead Crane Technician/Inspector based out of our Orange County, CA branch. The ideal candidate will have electrical bridge crane technician experience or similar experience. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Overhead Crane Technician/Inspector at Level, you will be entrusted with the critical task of ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of overhead crane systems and related industrial equipment. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities aimed at delivering exceptional service to our customers and maintaining the integrity of our equipment.
- Build end-user trust and rapport by interacting with customers in a helpful and professional manner. Obtain customer approval signatures upon completion of all work performed to confirm satisfaction.
- Provide and document accurate tracking of work start and end times including all lunch and other necessary breaks. Adhere to company policies and procedures for time reporting.
- Respond to trouble calls promptly and efficiently, troubleshooting issues with overhead crane systems in the field to minimize downtime and disruptions for our customers. Prioritize safety and expedient resolution of critical issues.
- Maintain necessary certifications and licenses to operate industrial equipment, such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts, with precision and safety in accordance with company protocols and industry standards.
- Maintain a clean background record to allow for approval onto sites for government and other projects when required. Maintain a valid CA driver's license with a clean driving record at all times.
Service Recommendations:
- Offer spare parts, service, and new equipment to recommendations to end-users based on equipment condition, usage patterns, and customer needs. Provide customers with valuable insights to support informed decision-making.
- Document fieldwork accurately and thoroughly by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklists, ensuring comprehensive records of service activities and equipment status. Submit daily service tickets in accordance with company policy.
- Record all job-related credit card charges and other expenses onto daily service tickets to ensure proper documentation and billing for services rendered.
- Record expenses at the time of the transaction to assist with invoicing velocity.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on customer equipment, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices to minimize the risk of unexpected breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including truck oil changes and other necessary maintenance to ensure the reliability and longevity of company vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to all safety precautions, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to protect yourself and others from workplace hazards. Report any and all safety concerns and/or violations immediately.
- Offer suggestions and insights related to service activities and strategies during team meetings, contributing to the ongoing improvement of our overall effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on overhead cranes and related lifting equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical circuits Including controls, radio systems and other related crane and hoist related
- Assist in the Installation and commissioning new overhead crane systems.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Respond to emergency service calls and provide on-site repairs as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of electrical bridge crane technician experience or similar experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and stand for extended periods.
