Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Craft Center Customer Service and Engagement position for the Craft Center at Oregon State University (OSU).

The OSU Craft Center is looking for enthusiastic students to provide information, assistance, and excellent customer service at the front desk and at event programming. Our customer service staff develops positive working relationships with members and faculty alike. They also build strong communication skills and assess unique situations that strengthen their problem-solving skills. The part-time position allows for our student workers to maintain their studies as well as balance work priorities. We are surrounded by creativity every day and invite applicants to share in the originality of our members and staff.

Position Duties

• Helps with class and membership registration

• Tool and kit check-out, maintaining tool room organization

• Entering computer data and other office related duties

• The position may require you to lift 25 lbs. or more on occasion

• Additional tasks include cleaning the reception area and studios

• Facilitate workshops during special events

• Attend weekly meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term

International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

• Must be available for Training Week, beginning on 9/15/2025

• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Basic math and cash handling skills to be responsible for the day-to-day accuracy of running the cash register.

• Exhibit leadership, responsibility, dependability and show enthusiasm for creativity.

• Are adaptable, patient, organized and exercise good judgment.

• Proficiency with Microsoft products: Word, Excel, Outlook.

• Experience and knowledge of art/crafts materials and techniques.

• Interest and competency in communicating with OSU's diverse campus population.

Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
