Job Summary
- A member of the healthcare team who functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and performs a variety of technical and supportive functions to assist with the care of the patient throughout their hospitalization utilizing hospital/departmental standards, policies, protocols and procedures. Staff in this role will perform multiple tasks including: checking in triage patients upon arrival to the unit, registering the patient, weighing and rooming the patient, obtaining vital signs, cleaning and restocking patient rooms, secretarial work including entering patient charges, maintaining the triage log book and delivery log book, gathering data and typing up the birth certificate, certifying the birth certificate in the Missouri state database, performing newborn testing including heel stick blood draws, hearing screens, pulse ox testing, bilirubin testing, assisting with Phototherapy set-up, assisting with Circumcisions, assisting in Emergency situations as a supply runner and note taker, assisting in Vaginal deliveries and Cesarean Sections as well as setting up sterile delivery tables in both the Labor room and Operating room.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience
- Preferred: Previous hospital and/or work experience as a Surgical Technologist

- Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days and maintained throughout employment
