The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $22.35 to $23.70.

This position is non-exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position

The Court Administration Lead provides leadership in the Civil Department by guiding and directing staff that provide case processing, case flow management and administrative support. This position will require travel to other court locations.

Position Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
  • Three (3) years of legal, court, or administrative assistant-level experience
OR

Combined education and experience qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis
Our Preferred Candidate has:
  • Experience in training, instructional design, and developing process manuals
  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish
  • Knowledge of Civil Court case flow and process
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
  • Principles and processes for providing customer service including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Skill in:
  • The use of web-based databases and Microsoft Office applications
  • Verbally communicating with others to convey information effectively
  • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience using proper grammar and a clear, concise, and organized manner
  • Establishing effective working relationships with others
Ability to:
  • Excel in a high volume and time sensitive work environment
  • Lead and coordinate the work of subordinates
  • Learn, understand, and properly use legal terminology
  • Learn, and understand the proper procedures for the legal requirements of court document processing
  • Learn, understand, and adhere to court policies and procedures
Essential Job Tasks

  • Performs supervisory functions in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Trains, oversees, and supervises the workload of subordinate staff
  • Manages workflow including identifying high-priority work and providing for adequate and timely completion of the unit's job duties
  • Performs work of staff supervised while researching, auditing, and correcting any inaccuracies
  • Performs data entry in the Court's case management system and other computer applications
  • Evaluates, recommends, and implements changes to work methods and procedures to increase efficiency
  • Handles complex and highly critical functions for the Civil department
  • Creates, reviews, maintains, and updates statistical reports and spreadsheets
  • Assists staff in resolving complex issues and complaints from internal and external customers related to court procedures and processes
  • Assists with the hiring, evaluation, performance of staff, and development of performance management plans

Working conditions:

Will require occasional travel to other court locations as needed for coverage. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
