Summary:

Goldbelt CP Marine is seeking a Cost Estimator to support the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) in Norfolk, VA.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
  • This position works under the supervision of a senior cost estimator.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for projects based on project plans, specifications, and other relevant information.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and associated costs.
  • Analyze historical data, industry standards, and market trends to generate accurate cost estimates.
  • Gather and evaluate information from subcontractors and suppliers to incorporate into cost estimates.
  • Prepare and present cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and profit margins.
  • Identify potential cost risks and provide recommendations to mitigate financial impacts on projects.
  • Ensure that estimates are consistent with project scopes, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including cost breakdowns and justifications.
  • Monitor and track project costs, comparing them with estimates to identify variances and suggest corrective actions.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of cost estimation principles, techniques, and tools.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present estimates and financial information clearly to stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience cost modeling.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Must be a US citizen
