Position Purpose

A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that provides
community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. The position is
full-time and is responsible for developing and implementing programs that promote staff and volunteer wellbeing, encompassing physical, mental and emotional health and manage DEI initiatives to foster an inclusive culture. This position will work to create a positive and healthy workplace, providing support and resources.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for designing and implementing programs and initiatives that promote both staff and volunteer well-being and fosters a diverse, inclusive and equitable culture in the organization.
  • Develop tools and resources to help our teams promote wellbeing and train them in how to establish boundaries and manage people who are displaying unhelpful behaviors.
  • Responsible for managing organizational wide DEI initiatives to foster an inclusive culture, including training programs and workshops.
  • Develop initiatives for volunteer and staff demographics to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
  • Manages all aspects of the Behavior Watchlist Program including regularly scheduled trainings along with tracking and reporting of flagged behaviors and incidents negatively impacting team cohesion or effectiveness.
  • Maintain joint responsibility with identified Development team member(s) to plan and implement strategies to identify donor networks and revenue streams to ensure continued funding for the Wellness Program through FY '26 and beyond.
  • Oversees management of counseling support services provided by BetterHelp and independent contract clinicians including all invoice approval and review.
  • Act as volunteer relations mediator to foster positive relationships between volunteers and the organization, providing guidance and support on issues such as grievances, disputes, and disciplinary actions.

Position Requirements
  • Education 2+ years college (preferred areas of study would be equity studies, psychology or social work, HR)
  • Related Experience: A passion for health and wellness and human behavior with knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding access, equity, diversity, inclusion and implicit bias. Influencing skills and ability to work across teams. Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality. Skills in communicating clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing. Experience in supporting survivors after critical incidents and people suffering a mental health crisis. Ability to work alone, leveraging expert external resources as required. Experience or an understanding of humanitarian operations is an advantage. Exhibits a demonstrated interest in working in the non-profit space.
  • Special Competencies/Certification Good written and oral communication skills and confident working with Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets; and Microsoft Office. Applicants need to be well organized and have a flexible approach to managing multiple tasks and prioritizing them appropriately. The individual is able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Compensation Starting salary is $51,537-$54,841 USD based on skills and experience, and up to $56,500 for highly qualified candidates.
