Buyers Products company, a leading manufacturer in the work truck industry, is searching for a meticulous, motivated professional to join our Finance team as a Corporate Payroll Specialist. Qualified candidates must be able to function both as a member in a team environment and independently while working with privileged data and information. A high degree of integrity and confidentiality is required for this position coupled with an ability to work cross functionally across the organization and provide guidance and direction on day-to-day activities.
The Corporate Payroll Specialist oversees and processes the weekly payroll for 9 entities in several states, ensuring that all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. This individual will operate as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes. In addition, the Corporate Payroll Specialist is responsible for facilitating all retirement plan transactions between employees and 3rd party administrator of each plan.
Primary Job Duties:
- Review and audit HRIS additions, edits and/or deletions of employee record data prior to processing weekly payroll (hours, pay increases, commissions, etc.)
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and responsiveness in the payroll function
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements including but not limited to payroll benefits regulations and laws inclusive of, taxes, deductions, ST/LT disability
- Validate the accuracy of all quarterly and year-end tax filing requirements, including W2 and W3 reporting
- Work closely with outside 3rd party administrators to ensure complete compliance with the administration of company sponsored profit sharing and 401k retirement plans, including administration of retirement plans forms, year-end contribution support and coordinating and reviewing distributions
- Identify and participate in key projects to drive process improvements and automation within the payroll function
- Support system and interface changes and execute testing strategies to ensure high quality
- Document and update payroll and benefit administration policy and procedures regularly
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred
- 5+ years of progressive payroll (hourly/salary) leadership responsibility processing for 1000 + employees in a multi-state and multi-entity environment.
- Experience performing account reconciliation and analysis for payroll-related payments
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Report creation, data manipulation, and reporting
Other Skills/Experience:
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred
- Payroll processing using ADP software preferred
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Mobility and dexterity to move around office settings including accessing file cabinets or storage and navigating to different workstations.
- Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods of time and engage in some repetitive motion.
- Standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time.
