LHH is looking for a Legal Secretary - Banking/Finance and Corporate in Birmingham, MI and this is a direct hire in office role. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to exceptional client service while working independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, edit, and proofread legal documents and correspondence.
- Handle closing preparations and file legal documents electronically and traditionally.
- Transcribe documents from dictation, ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
- Answer calls professionally, route messages, and assist with general inquiries.
- Manage postal mail, document deliveries, and scheduling for depositions, hearings, and meetings.
- Maintain appointment and deadline reminder calendars (docket control system).
- Enter and proofread time in the billing system to ensure accuracy before deadlines.
- Open and manage client files, conduct conflict checks, and handle file retention.
- Provide backup support for legal assistants and assist attorneys/paralegals as needed.
- Handle general office tasks (copying, scanning, faxing) while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2-3 years of experience in a law firm (Banking/Finance & Corporate experience preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in legal studies or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and legal document management software.
- Strong proofreading, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a commitment to responsive client service.
- Experience with iManage, Adarant, EAPro, Intapp is a plus.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Salary: $55,000 - $75,000
