The Corporate Construction Performance Manager reports to the Corporate Director of Purchasing & Field Operations, and will work to support the long-term enhancement of home delivery standards, and construction quality development through field assessment, training and supporting Field teams engaged in construction operations, safety, and usage of the Field Operations app to document both internal quality inline inspections, close the loop on 3rd party quality inspections, safety observations, tool box, etc.
This role will ensure that there is a direct link between corporate operations and our division teams while allowing other projects to advance as planned. A robust quality assessment, education, and training program will ensure that our employees and our product stands out as an example of a best-in-class operation.
The Construction Performance Manager will have a primary focus on four disciplines: Providing an industry leading employee training experience through ensuring a top-notch construction quality standard, comprehensive safety practices, on time and error free delivery. This role will consider current division construction practices focusing on thirteen construction systems and provide training and product knowledge opportunities that will support continuous improvement.
This position will take a role in influencing the overall quality system of the organization to reflect a continuous improvement mindset. Through the implementation of a robust quality assessment and training program, the Corporate Construction Performance Manager will support divisional goals pertaining to developing a industry leading quality system, including Predictive scoring practices for Sekisui House's quality Program through IBACOS.
Responsibilities:
Planning:
- Coordinate division planning for each quality assessment visit.
- Develop trending data that assists divisions with action planning relating to construction quality improvement.
- Develop on-site training curriculum and establish appropriate training interval.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to coordinate sponsored training for Woodside field employees.
- Research and become subject matter expert on modern construction practices that relate to superior quality production.
- Provide technical support and leadership for the development and management of training projects.
- Manages or performs site-specific training for employees and or subcontractors on the implemented building performance optimization strategies, software and advanced analytics
Operational:
- Create and curate field operations role training matrix based on job specific responsibilities.
- Provide asset development based on observations made while conducting quality assessment inspections.
- Provide a formal inspection debrief for division personnel referencing observations and offering prescriptive resolutions to construction quality opportunities.
- Upload inspection photography to Perform and provide admin support for user list.
- Identify quality opportunities and participate in the development of scope of work and standard operating procedure documents.
- Gather all data necessary, including site walks to perform a complete quality assessment including building information, scope adherence, current state vs. previous quality assessment results.
- Author the formal quality assessment report that is submitted to each division and forms the basis of ongoing action planning.
- Ensures that all quality assessment assets are compiled, saved and ready for archives within Perform.
- Adheres to the Woodside Homes Minimum Standard of Safety and promotes employee and subcontractor safety.
- Provides on-site coaching and mentoring to Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and Customer Care personnel.
- Provide technical support/ assistance to subcontractors.
- Conduct field walks of production site operations to assess construction quality and safety using custom digital platform to report on findings and identify both isolated and systematic risks.
- Analyze construction assemblies at the design (plan review) and construction (in-field) phases to identify opportunities to improve quality and reduce risk while complying with code.
- Remain current on building codes, performance programs, and new residential product technologies.
- Guide technical illustrators to create graphics and corresponding language that effectively communicates construction best practices to builders, trades and other construction professionals.
- Perform building forensics testing and diagnostics to identify root cause of construction defects and or validate system performance.
- Recommend construction retrofit practices to address construction quality issues.
- Conduct training on the Field Operations App.
- Promote "Home Safe. Everyone. Everyday." Sekisui House's commitment to Safety.
- Perform Predictive IBACOS internal assessments quarterly.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience in a combination of Field Operations Management roles overseeing multiple projects.
- 10+ years background in construction preferred.
