A Portfolio Manager must be an analytical, organized, team-focused individual with strong verbal and written communication skills. This individual will be responsible for structuring, delicensing, underwriting and recommending new Corporate Banking loan requests while ensuring adherence to the Bank's credit policy and established credit standards and guidelines. A Portfolio Manager works in a team environment as a key player within the relationship deal team. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining the credit quality of a loan portfolio and recommending risk rating changes, and is involved with the loan closing process and mentoring junior colleagues. Portfolio Managers maintain strong working relationships, based on experience level, with clients, deal team, credit team and other internal partners. Pay Range: $99,733 - $132,144 - $164,557

  • Structure. Underwrite, Analyze and Close Loans: Collaborate with the relationship manager, lead the structuring, diligence and underwriting of new leveraged Corporate Banking loan requests. Prepare credit approval packages, present recommendations to the credit team/senior management, and close complex Corporate Banking loans. Should have experience with underwriting participations in syndicated transactions as well as experience structuring and underwriting agented or bilateral leveraged transactions.
  • Portfolio Management: Monitor the credit quality of the assigned portfolio by periodically evaluating financial trends and covenant compliance, including the preparation of annual (or more frequent) reviews. Responsible for identifying increasing or decreasing risk in assigned portfolio accounts and facilitating a timely upgrade or downgrade of risk rating. Evaluate amendment requests and present recommendations to credit team/senior management.
  • Relationship Management: Highly visible role in managing the client relationship along with the relationship manager.
  • Training: Mentor, train and develop junior team members.
  • Maintaining Knowledge: Knowledgeable about the various commercial products available to clients as well as general market/industry trends.

Required Qualifications

  • 8 - 12 years of experience
  • Handles transactions/relationships/portfolio with high level of complexity
  • Experience working with less experienced team members to mentor and develop them, sharing expertise and insights
  • Bachelor's Degree: Business, Finance or related field
  • Must possess highly advanced credit analysis skills (prefer a candidate with formal credit training)
  • Previous experience in Corporate Banking or leveraged finance
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of accounting and financial statement analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excels in a team environment
  • Experience with underwriting participations in syndicated transactions
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of leadership and employees within the organization
  • Ability to work autonomously, handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage workflow to tight deadlines, and adapt to new demands and challenges
  • Strong work ethic
  • Familiarity with nCino, Credit Lens, AFS is a plus
