DescriptionThe Coordinator of Sports Communication serves as the secondary sports communication contact for the athletic department utilizing a wide-ranging multimedia approach to enhance the Springfield College athletics brand and highlight the program, coaches, and student-athletes.
ResponsibilitiesCoordinate athletics communication efforts, including news releases, gameday operations, statistics collection and management, photography and videography, social media and creative content.
Manage the athletics website and social media platforms.
Assist in developing the department's graphic design and video content creation.
Assist in content strategies based on current trends for social media platforms.
Serve as the lead contact at the conference, regional, and national level for assigned sports; serve as the primary contact for a select number of varsity teams.
Responsible for providing appropriate guidance to coaches, student-athletes and staff members regarding media inquiries.
Assist the Director of Strategic Athletics Communications and College Media with internal and external athletic related communications, including annual salient events.
Responsible for assigned gameday video stream and video production systems used for intercollegiate contests and practices.
Supervisor and work in collaboration with sports communication graduate and undergraduate students including pre-practicum, practicum, and student-workers, providing guidance, training, and development.
QualificationsBachelor's degree required in Communications, Sports Journalism, Sport Management or Journalism with a minimum of one year of directly related experience.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of journalism, website development and maintenance, sports statistics and terminology, video editing and production, and graphic design.
Occasional travel required for championship conferences or designated team administrator.
