Coordinator of Science Instruction Position Purpose Performs intermediate professional and administrative work assisting in the planning, development and implementation of total instructional program in Science K-12, STEM, and Computer Science; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires, walking, and repetitive motions; voice communication is required for expressing and exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, preparing and analyzing written and computer data, determining the accuracy and the thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions and hazards.

- Provides leadership and expertise in Science/STEM/Computer Science content and curriculum.
- Assists in the planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring of all science programs, services, activities, and curriculum.
- Ensures integration of STEM concepts across subjects to promote interdisciplinary learning.
- Design curriculum materials and resources to support inquiry-based learning, hands-on activities, and project-based instruction.
- Ensures proper correlation between science/computer science instructional delivery and the attainment of Standards of Learning.
- Drive initiatives that prepare students for future careers in STEM fields by fostering 21st-century skills such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and digital literacy.
- Oversee and coordinate district-wide science and STEM initiatives, projects, and programs.
- Coordinates science test development.
- Monitors all levels of science performance data.
- Analyze assessment data to identify gaps in student achievement and recommend interventions.
- Leads administrative and staff professional development/Professional Learning Communities.
- Provide ongoing training and workshops for teachers on effective science and STEM instructional strategies, content knowledge, and new technology tools.
- Support teachers in developing innovative, engaging, and differentiated instructional methods.
- Assists in collaborating and consulting with other staff to coordinate the instructional program.
- Provides guidance and participation in division and school improvement initiatives.
- Organizes and coordinates instructional committees.
- Manage budgets and resources for science and STEM programs, including materials, equipment, and technology.
- Develop partnerships with universities, local businesses, and community organizations to enhance science and STEM programs.
- Ensure compliance with science lab safety regulations and best practices.
- Serve as the primary liaison between schools and district administration.
- Provides supervision to content specialists.
- Prepares information for local, state, and federal reports.
- Prepares and maintains files and records.
- Performs related tasks as required.

Education and Experience - Minimum 3+ years of successful teaching of science is required.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- Instructional leadership experience is required.
Special Requirements - Possession of a current VA teaching license with an endorsement in science.
- A master's degree is preferred. .
Terms of Employment - Salary Range: $85,023 to 129,704
- Contract: 12 Months Employment
