Posting Details Job Title Coordinator, Sport and Youth Programs Department RECREATIONAL SPORTS Position Number FP050A Location Norfolk, VA Job Summary The Sport & Youth Programs Coordinator will assist in the operation, development and growth of sports and youth programs for Recreation and Wellness. Their responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, program scheduling, staff supervision, advising of sport clubs, training officials, risk management, budget management, accreditation, parent communication, and player eligibility. Given the nature of the positions in Student Engagement Enrollment & Services that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during university closings as directed by their supervisor. These instances may include working from a remote location (i.e. telework, etc.). Position Type FullTime Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum Qualifications A Master's degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, or related field is required; or a bachelor's degree in the areas previously indicated along with equivalent to an advanced degree. Working knowledge of the following: Management of comprehensive, competitive, and recreational sport programs Inventory control principles and methods. Marketing principles including promotion, fundraising, and public relations. Basic interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Basic organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects. Basic skills in scheduling, event planning, and logistics coordination. Basic skills in preparing financial reports and accounting records. Basic skills in budget management and ability to work within budget constraints. Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of colleagues, students, and the public. Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision. Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures consistently. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends, as necessary. Current CPR , First Aid, and AED certifications or ability to obtain within three months of employment. Possession of a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required. Prior working experience in intramural sports, sport clubs, or related field. Prior working experience with youth programs or professional childcare. Prior working experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
