The Coordinator, Highest Awards & Scholarships supports and elevates Girl Scouts in achieving their highest recognitions-the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards-while also overseeing scholarship opportunities. This role ensures that Girl Scouts have access to the tools, mentorship, and resources needed to develop meaningful, impactful projects that create lasting change in their communities. Working collaboratively across the organization, the Coordinator develops and delivers training, supports volunteers and troop leaders, and ensures compliance with Girl Scout guidelines. The Coordinator facilitates the Highest Awards Committee, engages short-term volunteers, and maintain consistent communication with members and stakeholders. Additionally, this position plays a key role in planning and supporting the annual Gold Award celebration event.


Through data-driven insights, strategic outreach, and strong volunteer engagement, the Coordinator helps drive participation in the Highest Awards program, ensuring that more Girl Scouts can access and achieve these prestigious recognitions. This position upholds the Girl Scout mission while fostering leadership development and service excellence among the next generation of changemakers.


Responsibilities

  • Uses contemporary Girl Scout program content to support the Highest Awards process.
  • Support the process including developing marketing content, delivering training, and providing guidance to Girl Scouts, volunteers, and troop leaders to increase the number of award candidates.
  • Facilitate and support the Highest Awards Committee, short-term volunteers, and troop leaders, ensuring they have the tools and resources necessary to guide girls through the award process.
  • Maintain consistent and effective communication with membership, stakeholders, and volunteers regarding the Highest Awards process, deadlines, and program updates.
  • Collaborate with the Girl Experience Team and other council departments to develop targeted pathways and strategic initiatives that drive growth in Highest Awards participation and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Research national program strategies and trends to ensure the Highest Awards program remains relevant, engaging, and responsive to the needs of elementary, middle, and high school-aged Girl Scouts.
  • Plan and support the annual gold award celebration event.
  • Ensure excellent customer service by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries, providing support to members, and upholding the council's customer service philosophy.
  • Serve as an active team member in achieving council goals and strategic priorities.
  • Interpret and uphold GSUSA and council policies and standards to ensure program quality and consistency.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field or experience commensurate with degree


Required Skills

  • Record of successful program implementation/delivery or appropriate related experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
  • Strong human relations skills such as leadership, networking and relationship building
  • Ability to prioritize the strategic plan of the council and execute into tangible actions
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully handle conflict resolution at all levels with a variety of people, including external customers
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality
  • Well disciplined, able to meet deadlines, self-starter, team builder
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access
  • Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred
