Job Description (HIRING MULTIPLE POSITIONS) The Center for Student Engagement (CSE) within the Division of Student Life invites applications for three open positions of Coordinator for Campus Engagement. These positions support registered student organizations and campus programming. These are 12-month, full-time staff positions that report to the Assistant Directors for Campus Engagement and Student Organization Support in the Center for Student Engagement.
The Center for Student Engagement contributes to the holistic education of all students by providing programs, services, and leadership opportunities that advance student learning and belonging. Departmental efforts are supported by three primary student organizations/entities that are supervised and advised by staff within the department: All Campus Event (ACE), Campus Events Board (CEB), and Organization Support. Through these combined efforts, the Center for Student Engagement hosts over 150+ programs per year and supports 550+ Registered Student Organizations and their advisors.
Responsibilities Coordinators will supervise and advise student employees and leaders to support student organizations, execute campus-wide events, and provide leadership development opportunities. Coordinators will oversee the planning and implementation of office programming and assist with departmental assessments, marketing and communications, and supporting campus and community partnerships.
One of the roles will focus on support of registered student organizations, and two of the roles will focus on campus programming.
QualificationsResponsibilities - Lead in the planning, development, and execution of campus events and workshops supporting undergraduate and graduate student populations
- Work with a team of staff members to provide advisory support to All Campus Events or the Campus Events Board
- Supervise student employees serving in leadership roles within the Center for Student Engagement
- Manage and track allocated programming budgets
- Work with a team as a co-leader in the planning, development, and execution on annual large-scale (500+) programs
- Provide direction on the graphic design development, marketing and communications of departmental programs and events
- Report on departmental programs and student leadership development utilizing assessment results
- Work in collaboration with the staff to create a balanced calendar of programs and events for the CSE
- Assist with supporting registered student organizations
- Support student leadership and community development
- Support departmental programs, events, and initiatives
- Support departmental Homecoming programs and initiatives
- Serve on departmental sub-committees
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required Qualifications - Education: Master's degree must be completed on or before 5/31/2025
- Experience: Experience working with students in a higher education setting
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and budget management skills
- Ability to lead effectively
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, and staff
Preferred Qualifications - Experience:
- 1 year experience in student activities, student organization advising, campus event planning, or related area
- Master's degree can substitute for 1 year of related professional experience
- 2 years as a Graduate Assistant or intern is equal to 1 year of professional experience
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams
- Working knowledge of student engagement and event management platforms such as Blackthorn, Anthology Engage, and others.
- Understanding of social media content management platforms and creative systems such as Buffer, Adobe, and Canva
Work Location - This position is located on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus, and is fully in-person with the opportunity for limited remote hours.
