Cook's Helper
Full Time Martha and Mary Health Services is seeking a dependable, engaging and organized Cook's Helper to assist in our Health Services Kitchen. General Description The Cook's Helper will assist the Cook, Food Service Manager and Food Service Director. Works most closely with the following internal staff to effectively meet our resident's needs: Charge Nurses, NACs, Lead Housekeeper, and other Dietary staff. The main external customer contact will include: Residents and their families and friends, Volunteers, and Food Vendors.
Starting wage is $17.75/hr. up to $21.27 depending on related experience as determined by Supervisor and HR.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7am-3:30pm Weekend Availability required Some fun things you'll do: - Required to engage in preparing foods or institutional setting
- May be required to wash, peel, cut and seed vegetables and fruit
- Cleans, cuts and grinds meats, poultry and seafood
- May be required to weigh and measure designated ingredients for recipe
- Prepare and label salads, desserts and other side dishes
- Assists Dietary Cook in preparation of meals
- May be required to prepare coffee and hot water
- May be required to ensure liquids are thickened properly and served at proper temperature
- May be required to wash all pots and knives used
- May be required to prepare trays for residents and ensure their accuracy in terms of diet and thickness of liquid
- Assist in taking out the garbage and cleaning of work area at the end of the shift
- Employee is required to handle food throughout the day
- Employee must be able to be on feet all day
- Must be able to keep pace with a busy kitchen to ensure food is prepared and ready for serving on time
- May also assist residents to eat in dining rooms as regulations allow

The following benefits/compensation are offered at Martha & Mary. - Paid Time Off (PTO) is accrued at varying rates depending on length of employment. Accrual rates begin at 5.32 hours per month based on a 40-hour workweek. These accruals include the required sick leave per Washington State's Paid Sick Leave Law
