Description
Personal Touch Food Service is hiring a part-time cook for weekends only.
Hours- Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am-6:30 pm
Pay- $18.00
Job Overview:
The Cook establishes and oversees the kitchen workflow at his/her assigned unit to ensure that meals are prepared in an efficient and effective manner. The Cook may be additionally responsible for receiving supplies, verifying delivery quantity and quality, and ensuring all supplies are stored appropriately in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Cook
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to school menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.
- Operate kitchen equipment (e.g., ovens, mixers, slicers) safely and correctly.
- Monitor food temperatures during preparation and service to ensure safety.
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing food and supplies; rotate stock to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, serving areas, and equipment.
- Set up and serve food in a timely and courteous manner during meal periods.
- Assist with daily cleaning, dishwashing, and sanitizing of all kitchen tools and surfaces.
- Follow school district or institution policies and procedures related to food service.
- Collaborate with food service team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Report equipment malfunctions or food safety concerns to supervisor promptly.
Requirements
Education and/or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in food preparation or institutional cooking.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification a plus).
- Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and instructions.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet strict meal schedules.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and coworkers.
Salary Description
$18.00 per hour
