Purpose of this position:
The primary purpose of the cook position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, established by the facility policies and procedures and as directed by the Food and Nutrition Services Director.

Estimated Starting Salary:

$16.00-$21.00 based on experience.

Job Type:

Full-time and Part Time

Shift:

Day shift 5:30 am-1:30pm.

Requirements:

• Must be able to cook a variety of large quantities of quality food.

• Must be knowledgeable of food procedures.

• Must posses' leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.

• Must be willing to adapt to change.

• Must be able to push carts and lift up to 30 pounds.

• Must be able to communicate with kitchen staff and other staff in different departments.

• Must be able to move intermittently thought entire shift.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review menus before preparing food.

• Prepare food in accordance with facility recipes, planned menus, and special diet orders.

• Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations as well as established facility policies and procedures.

• Follow established infection control prevention and control policies and procedures.

• Prepare food that is palatable and appetizing in appearance.

• Prepare food in accordance with established portion control.

• Process diet changes and new diets received from nursing services.

• Inspect diet trays to ensure the correct diet is being served to the right residents.

• Maintain care and use of supplies, equipment, and the appearance of the kitchen.

• Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties.

• Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and arranged.

• Assist in inventorying and storing incoming food, supplies, etc. as necessary.

• Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, etc.

• Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
