Cook Job Responsibilities: - Reports to Food Service Director and completes daily prep list for Cook Lead.
- Prepares fresh ingredients using culinary techniques according to standardized recipes and menus.
- Proactively monitors storeroom and walk-ins for cleanliness, order and par levels.
- Follows standardized recipes, modifying as necessary for therapeutic diets including IDDSI texture modification.
- Supports patient service trayline and Bistro operations during high-volume service times.
- Assists with food ordering as assigned by FSD or Cook Lead
- Assists with caterings and special events as assigned
- Ensures tight cost control by storing and labelling food appropriately using first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory practices.
- Serves foods following standards for portion sizes for patient and retail meals.
- Following all safety protocols including proper use of kitchen equipment, PPE, infection control and HACCP guidelines.
- Other routine kitchen work includes washing pots and pans, cleaning work area and general cleaning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Cook Job Requirements: - Minimum of 4 years institutional cooking
- Current WA State Food Worker's Card
- Current Servesafe Manager preferred
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to inside environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. May be exposed to extreme heat at times. The employee may be exposed to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes and communicable diseases as related to a health care environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands: While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, climb, balance, bend, stretch, and stoop. The employee will need full range of body motion, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate various tools and manipulate objects. Normal range of hearing and eyesight; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. May exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
