JOB TITLE: Cook/Driver
DEPARTMENT: Elderly
CLASS: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
SALARY: $13.25 - $15.00 Hr.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Assists the Kitchen Supervisor in food preparation and serves meals to Elderly Clients. Transports meals to homebound clients daily. Records a list of the homebound participants and signatures from participants receiving meals. Prepares and serves following prescribed Health Department (Tribal or Indian Health Services) rules and regulations and sound sanitary practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to the Kitchen Supervisor.
- Oversees the daily operations of the kitchen, including staff.
- Ensures the kitchen follows local and federal regulations and requirements for food preparation.
- Assists in preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch for homebound, pick-up-and-go clients according to the USDA food guide plan for the elderly.
- Inspect food upon delivery for damages. Must date and rotate food using the FIFO method.
- Help clean and sanitize the kitchen area.
- Record refrigerator and freezer temperature daily. Record cooking and holding temperature on cooked food throughout the day.
- Deliver meals to the homebound.
- Obey traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles are correctly working.
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
- Present bills and receipts, and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded.
- Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles.
- Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
- Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries.
- Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements following regulations.
- Read maps, and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
- Participate in training for the staff and performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The position requires you to be physically able to lift 50 lbs., stand for long periods, and be physically able to meet the demands of delivery to and from homes, frequently getting in and out of a vehicle.
- CPR/First Aide Certified.
- Food Handlers Certification.
Other:
- Must be able to attend training and travel while employed with the organization.
- Possess an Arizona Finger Print Clearance Card or be able to obtain one.
Necessary Requirements:
- Possess a valid Driver's License and be eligible for the Tribe's insurance
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Submit to and Pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the field of food service preferred.
